The One Billion Rising Two Weeks Course on Gender, Peace, Human Rights and Feminism was launched on 7th November 2020 at Gawharshad University by the Women Empowerment Center (WEC).
This course is a part of the One Billion Rising Campaign that aims to put an end to the culture of discrimination, violence and rape against women by having a million people rise, including women and men, to show global solidarity of men and women for defending women's rights and to pass on the message that today's world does not accept violence against women and violation of human rights.
This two weeks training program focuses on topics such as: Gender and Feminism, Gender and Political Participation, Gender and Human Rights, & Gender and Peace. On 7th November, Dr. Ahmad Fahim “Hakim”, (Advisor on International Relations in the Ministry of State for Human Rights and International Relations), Mrs. Nasima Amini, (Expert in Operational Affairs in International Relations at the Ministry of State for Human Rights and International Relations) and Mr. Ahmad Zia Noori, (Expert in Legal Affairs in International Relations at the Ministry of State for Human Rights and International Relations) opened the two weeks course with conducting an evaluation of the participants and giving them an introduction to human rights and its core concepts.
This course is set to be ongoing till 18th November 2020 with each day featuring a lecture from a different instructor and it is aimed that it can help participants in continuing and sharing the concepts that can eventually benefit more people.
Gawharshad University Scored the Highest marks by the Honorable Ministry of Higher Education
The Peer reviewers from the Ministry of Higher Education, Department of Quality assurance and Accreditation, visited Gawharshad University for the second stage of accreditation on Oct 13-16. Gawharshad University successfully achieved the highest score (80.97) at this stage.
Dr. Sima Samar along with a delegation from Gawharshad Institute of Higher Education visited the University of Technology, Sydney to expand the areas of cooperation they started after their MOU in 2013.
Gawharshad University together with Kabul Regional Office of Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC), on 15 January 2019, jointly conducted the national dialogue on ‘the role of women in good governance and sustainable peace’ at AIHRC conference hall.
The entrance exam (Kankor) for spring 2019 intake was held on March 15th with the presence of Ministry of Higher Education representative and over 600 applicants and attendants.
Gawharshad counseling Center held a seminar on educational counseling on December 9th, 2018. Ms. Fatima Ghafari covered educational planning, effective study habits, and exam stress in this seminar.
Dr. Sima Samar, chairperson of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission and the founder of Gawharshad University, was appointed by the UN secretary general to his high-level advisory board.
On January 17th, Gawharshad University celebrated the 9th round of graduation of it students. Dr. Mohammad Jawad Salehi, chancellor, in his opening speech welcomed the presence of the audience and congratulated the graduates and their families and emphasized on the role education plays in development of any country.
Faculty of Economics held a seminar on ‘student, creativity and entrepreneurship’ on 18 of November 2018.
Dr. Sayed Taleb Alavi, a lecturer at the faculty of economics, elaborated on the concept of entrepreneurship and mentioned that this concept firstly gained importance among economists and since sixteenth century all economic schools of thought have talked about it.
