Faculty of Economics held a seminar on ‘student, creativity and entrepreneurship’ on 18 of November 2018.

Dr. Sayed Taleb Alavi, a lecturer at the faculty of economics, elaborated on the concept of entrepreneurship and mentioned that this concept firstly gained importance among economists and since sixteenth century all economic schools of thought have talked about it.

Dr. Alavi explained that Joseph Schumpeter’s theory on economic development became very popular among economists. Schumpeter, in his theory, emphasized on the role entrepreneurs played to generate profit and since he is known as ‘father of entrepreneurship’. In Schumpeter’s perspective, entrepreneurship is the main driving force in economic development and it largely involves innovation.

Further in this seminar, Ali Akbar Naseri, dean of the faculty, stated that in the current situation of Afghanistan where the unemployment rate is really high, the subject of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship is really important. He mentioned that because of the dramatic population growth, nowadays, states are increasingly researching on the development of small business enterprises. Countries like South Korea and Malaysia have rich and insightful experiences in this field and can be role models for us.

Sayed Mustafa Hussaini and Samira Amiri explained their economic ideas about broiler chicken breeding industry and student saving fund respectively. Ahmad Morid Farhang had a presentation on the impact of insecurity on economy and the seminar concluded with questions and answers.
