Dr. Sima Samar, chairperson of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission and the founder of Gawharshad University, was appointed by the UN secretary general to his high-level advisory board.
On Friday, January 18th,UNAMA reported that UN secretary general, Antonio Guterres, appointed Dr. Sima Samar along with Juan Gabriel Valdes to his high-level advisory board on mediation.
The high-level advisory board was established on 13 September 2017 to provide the secretary general with advice on mediation initiatives and efforts around the world. The board is composed of 18 current and former global leaders, senior officials and renowned experts who bring together unparalleled range of experience, skills, knowledge and contacts.
Gawharshad University congratulates Afghan nation on this appointment and wishes Dr. Samar an ever-increasing success in her endeavors to promote human rights and peace.
