The Faculty of Computer Science is one of the main faculty at Gawharshad University and among the best in Afghanistan in terms of lecturers, facilities, and technological activities. Since its establishment, the faculty has strived to achieve the highest academic level in computer science. The faculty is characterized by its unique and qualified team of lecturers with both business and academic backgrounds. As computer science is one of the fastest-growing fields in Afghanistan, the faculty of computer science at Gawharshad is trying to provide the best academic and innovative environment for the students and faculty members to keep the pace of their development and innovation according to the job market in the country.

Considering the ICT background in Afghanistan, the country has experienced different types of tragedies due to civil war. The ICT sector was a new field of study for the nation in the last decade. Currently, ICT has found its place in society and it is playing a key role in the development of the government and private sector. The interest of the new generation in ICT and its role in international development is promising a fast and sustainable growth in the coming years.

Furthermore, Afghanistan is the end-user of technologies. So far, it depends on technologies mostly developed abroad. The faculty of computer science is committed to working with different national and international institutions to make the country a hub for technology development.
