Scientific meeting on Women, Children and Immigration was conducted

In this meeting Sayed Hussain Alemi Balkhi Minister of Refugee and Repatriation, Dr.mohammad Jawad Salehi chancellor of Gawharshad Institute of Higher Educaion, Professor Hamid Layan deputy of academic affair, Safar Ali Aeen deputy of Finance and Administration, Dr.Alema deputy of Immigration and returnees from ministry of Refugee and repatriation, Dr.suraya subh Rang children commissioner  in Independent Human Rights Commission, Abul Ahad Farzam  director of regional office Human Rights commission, Government authorities, university lecturers, civil society activist and women rights activist , media and Gawharshad youth Peace Leaders were the participants. This scientific meeting was organized by Gawharshad Institute of Higher Education with collaboration of Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation in 26 August 2017 at Gawharshad Institute of Higher Education conference hall.

The main goals of this scientific meeting are to support the protection of migrant women and children and provide effective solutions to their migration factors; a clear understanding of the role of social and sexual factors in immigrant women; identify the challenges and challenges faced by women and children in the migration route; awareness National and International Laws to Protect Immigrant Women and Children; Provide effective remedies for dealing with migrant women and children; and provide support programs for women and immigrant children.

Dr. Salehi, the chancellor of Gawharshad Institute of Higher Education in his opening speech, emphasized on the specialization and knowledge of the phenomenon of immigration, and said: “In the current situation, the challenges of immigration from the scientific point of view should be discussed.”

He also emphasized the cooperation of the Gawharshad Institute of Higher Education with the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation in collecting data and research on the migration of Afghan women and children, and promised to cooperate.

Sayed Hussein Alemi Balkhi, Minister of I Refugees and Repatriation, also expressed his pleasure in holding this meeting, which is one of the important solutions to the problem of immigration of the Afghan people.

He also said that a number of Afghan refugee children who are still not in legal age are kept in refugee camps till they complete the lawful age and then returned from that country. This is contrary to international law and human rights violations.

Omar Saeed was the first speaker at the scientific meeting, speaking on behalf of Shafiqa Habibi, head of the New Afghan Women’s Network, and reading her article on the impact of gender constraints on women’s immigration.

Abdul Ahad Farzam, head of Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission’s Regional Office, spoke extensively about the “Legal Status of Immigrant Women and Children in Human Rights Law.” “Our immigrants in foreign countries have consistently faced human rights abuses with various and varied elements,” he said, highlighting many human rights violations by countries, especially neighboring countries, on Afghan refugees.

Abbas Azimi, Gawharshad Peace Center manager, was the third speaker of the scientific meeting to discuss the challenges of women and children on the path to immigration. Referring to various views of Western thinkers, especially Galtung in the context of positive and negative peace, he replied to the question of which type of violence immigrants are facing on the path to country of destination?

The scientific meeting ended with the comprehensive conclusion by Dr.Alema the deputy of Immigration and returnees from Ministry of Refugees and repatriation, there were participants’ questions and answers session as well.

It is worth mentioning that the series of scientific meetings on various topics are held in Gawharshad Institute of Higher Education during the year.
